Midway ISD is implementing a system that logs when students are riding a bus in real time (on regular routes). Over the next few weeks, all registered bus riders will receive a SMART Tag to ensure student ridership and improve security.
How does SMART Tag work?
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Are SMART Tag ID badges required to ride the bus?
A: Yes, it is expected that students scan their ID card upon entering and exiting the bus.
Q: Will students be able to ride the bus without their SMART Tag?
A: If a student does not have their SMART Tag, the driver will need to manually log the student into the system, which will delay loading and the route. To stay on schedule, students need to have their tag.
Q: Who should be contacted if a student loses his/her SMART Tag ID?
A: Parents can contact the Transportation Department at 254-761-5620 for a replacement SMART Tag ID.
Q: Why did my child receive a SMART Tag ID if they are not a bus rider? A: SMART Tag IDs are generated for all registered bus riders, even if they do not regularly ride a bus. If your child received a tag erroneously, please give the tag to your campus front office to be returned to the Transportation Department.
