Each year, Midway ISD recognizes members of the community in appreciation of their dedicated support of MISD's children and their education. Friends of Midway receive a custom-blown glass bowl in Midway colors created by art teacher Bob Rynearson.

The Midway Alumni Network recognizes selected retired Midway ISD employees as Distinguished Staff Members.

Past Distinguished Service Honorees

All graduates are invited to nominate Distinguished Staff honorees.

Nomination Guidelines:

1. Any retired staff member who is not currently employed byanother school district is eligible for nomination.

2. Any retired staff member who is rehired under TRS regulations iseligible for nomination.

3. Midway alumni may nominate retired Midway ISD staff members by contacting the Education Foundation.

4. Top priority will be given to the nominations submitted by classmembers of classes hosting reunion events during the calendaryear.

5. The number of staff honorees may vary from year to year, butnot to exceed four honorees in one calendar year.

6. The time and place of recognition will be determined annually bythe Midway Alumni Network committee, a committee of the MidwayISD Education Foundation.

The Distinguished Alumni Award seeks to recognize former Midway Panther graduates for their personal or professional accomplishments postgraduation. This prestigious award is Midway ISD in continuing support and acknowledgment of former student’s achievements.

Nomination Guidelines:

To nominate someone for the Distinguished Alumni Award, please submit a one page,12 font letter of recommendation. The letter should state why you believe the nomineeshould be considered for the Distinguished Alumnus Award. Some possible topics toaddress in this attachment:

1. Explain what this individual might have gained through Midway ISD schools thathelped him or her to become what he/she is today (specific extracurricularactivities, interests or grade point averages could be included here).

2. Describe what the nominee has contributed to the community (Waco area oranother community) and/or his or her profession since attending Midway schoolsthat makes this nominee deserving of recognition.

3. Please explain why you feel this individual is a role model that current and future generations of Midway ISD students could emulate.

Please include current contact information for the nominee in your letter. Nomination letters may be sent to Midway Alumni Network, 13885 Woodway Drive, Waco, TX 76712 or delivered in person to the Midway ISD Administration Building at the same address. Administration Building hours are Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30PM. Offices are closed on Fridays in June and July.

The Midway ISD Athletic Department will accept nominations for the district's Athletic Hall of Fame on an ongoing basis. Categories of recognition include: Athlete, Coach, Team and Friend.

Employees who go above and beyond the call of duty are recognized by the School Board. Nominations are accepted year-round via email to communications@midwayisd.org.
