Each year, Midway’s Human Resource Department and Education Foundation combine resources to provide MISD paraprofessionals that hold a bachelor’s degree, with scholarships to pursue their teaching certification. The GROW YOUR OWN full or partial scholarship pays for the MCC alternative certification program including coursework and internship. In addition, the awardees are provided a Midway mentor during the internship period of the program, as well as supervision and support from the district mentor coordinator.
The scholarship is awarded to paraprofessionals who have earned a bachelor’s degree, have been employed with Midway ISD for a one year, and have recommendation for hire by a Midway ISD administrator.
In addition, applicants must be accepted to the MCC Alternative Teacher Certification Program prior to being awarded a scholarship.
Information and applications for the Midway Grow Your Own Scholarship will be available in late March/early April with an expected enrollment in the Summer Cohort.
