Top Ten Tips for a Successful First Day of School
Top 10 Tips for a successful first day
The big day is almost here—school starts Wednesday, August 14th! Here are a few important things to keep in mind to ensure a smooth and successful first day:
1) Early Birds Get the Best Spots:
- Traffic will be a bit busier than usual, so aim to arrive early to snag a good spot in the drop-off line. Remember, patience is key!
2) Know the Times:
- Elementary: Drop-off opens at 7 a.m., and the school day kicks off at 7:40 a.m. Dismissal is at 3:10 PM.
- Middle School: Classes beginning at 8:25 a.m., and dismissal at 3:55 p.m.
- High School: First bell at 8:25 a.m., and dismissal at 4 p.m.
3) Stick to the Drop Off Plan:
- Please follow the drop-off and pick-up routes—safety first! Let’s keep things running smoothly by sticking to the designated areas.
4) Under Construction
- With road construction happening near some of our campuses, please be extra aware of workers, signs, and temporary traffic patterns. A little caution goes a long way in keeping everyone safe.
5) Bus Riders, Get Ready!:
- Make sure your child knows their bus number and stop. You can learn about our SMART tags or check routes online.
6) Supplies and Paperwork—Check!:
- Double-check that all school supplies are packed and any forms (medical, emergency contact, etc.) are filled out and returned.
7) Lunch Time Ready:
- Make sure your child’s lunch account is topped up and any allergy information is updated with the school.
8) Dress for Success:
- Review the dress code to avoid any first-day wardrobe worries. Let’s start the year off on the right foot!
9) Attendance Matters:
- Every day counts! Make sure you’re familiar with our attendance policy and encourage your child to be there every day, on time.
10) Stay Connected:
- Ensure your emergency contact details are current and keep an eye on ParentSquare and other communication channels for updates.
Let’s make this first day (and the whole year) amazing! We can’t wait to see everyone bright and early Wednesday.
