Career and Technical Education Students Excel in National Cybersecurity Programs

Several Midway High School Career and Technical Education students have achieved top honors in national cybersecurity programs, earning recognition as National Cyber Scholars and Cyberpatriot National Semifinalists.

Nine Midway High School students have been named National Cyber Scholars by the National Cyber Scholarship Foundation for their top scores in a challenging online cybersecurity training program. 

In recognition of their achievement as National Scholars, the following students earned scholarships, each valued at over $3,000, to participate in the SANS (SysAdmin, Audit, Network, and Security) Foundations course, a comprehensive course providing essential cybersecurity knowledge and skills:

In addition, Samantha Daniel, Lillian Goodman, Jackson Lee, and Cole Baldwin are also recognized as Scholars with Honors for completing additional training and earning the GIAC Foundational Cybersecurity Technologies (GFACT) certification through the NCSF Cyber Foundations Academy.

Additionally, 11 students are national semifinalists in the 2023-2024 Cyberpatriot National Youth Cyber Defense Competition.

Cyberpatriot is the nation’s largest cyber defense competition that puts students in charge of securing virtual networks by finding and fixing cybersecurity vulnerabilities while maintaining critical services. Scores are based on how secure they make the system.

This year, three Midway High School teams composed of the following students qualified to compete in the national semifinal round of the competition:
