Six middle school students were awarded the highest possible scores for their artwork in the Junior Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) competition.

Entries by River Valley seventh and eighth graders Phillip Alvarado, Luna Echols, Eleanor Goodman, and Nadia Gunn earned perfect scores and gold medals.

All four River Valley gold medalists also received platinum medals for their entries.

Artwork that is awarded a gold medal advances to a second round of judging where the top 10% in each division are awarded a platinum medal. A platinum medal in Junior VASE is equivalent to a state-level award in high school.
