Midway High School junior Stephanie Starks has once again won first place in the 2024 Congressional App Challenge in Texas’ 17th Congressional District.
Stephanie’s winning app from 2023, “Pollinator Party,” was designed to educate about the importance of pollinators and teach children about the honey bee and the monarch butterfly. This year, she advanced her educational app to a 2.0 version, adding another pollinator, the bat, to the app.
The Congressional App Challenge is hosted annually by members of the U.S. House of Representatives in districts across the country with the goals of encouraging students to learn to code and inspiring them to pursue careers in computer science.
Stephanie is a student in Project Lead the Way computer science courses at Midway High School and has been taught by BJ Williams and Susan Jones.
