Watley brings over a decade of educational leadership experience to the role. A TEPSA member since 2012, she has previously served on the organization's Board of Directors (2021-2023), Advocacy Committee (2022-2023), and various Standing Committees (2016-2023). She was also part of the Region 12 TEPSA Board from 2019-2024.

"We are incredibly proud that Christy’s colleagues across the state recognize the outstanding leadership we see in her every day,” Midway ISD Superintendent Dr. Chris Allen said. “Her passion for education and dedication to her students and staff make a profound impact, not just at Hewitt Elementary, but across our entire district. We are truly blessed to have her leading our educators and shaping the future of our students."

Throughout her career, Watley has been recognized for her excellence in education, including being named TEPSA Assistant Principal of the Year in 2016 and TEPSAN of The Year for 2021-2022. Her leadership has also benefited Hewitt Elementary, which was named to the Educational Results Partnership Honor Roll List for Outstanding Achievement in 2023 and designated as a Leader In Me Campus that same year.

"Being a principal can sometimes feel lonely, and the challenges of being an administrator have increased significantly," Watley stated in her platform. "The expectations and demands on administrators are higher than ever before. For me, TEPSA has provided that network—a source of encouragement, guidance, and inspiration as we navigated these uncharted waters together."

Watley holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Tarleton State University and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Baylor University. She has been a frequent presenter at TEPSA conferences, sharing expertise on topics ranging from school improvement strategies to family engagement and literacy programs.

In her new role on the Executive Committee, Watley aims to advocate for the profession, amplify the voices of educational leaders, and celebrate the work happening in public schools across Texas.

Watley resides in the Midway area with her husband of 20 years, Derrick, and their three children: Miquel, Isaiah, and Mireya.
