For the 15th consecutive year, Midway ISD is honored as one of the Best Communities in the nation for music education. The district is one of just 830 school districts across the country being recognized this year for demonstrating an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education.
The Best Communities for Music Education award program celebrates outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders who have made music education part of a well-rounded education for all children. Designations are made by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation to recognize innovative schools and districts for their efforts to enhance the presence of music education on campus and in the lives of students.
“Music education, as part of a well-rounded education, has never been more important to unleash students’ creativity and supports emotional health and well-being as they build connections through music activities,” Mary Luehrsen, Executive Director of The NAMM Foundation, shared in a news release. “We applaud the administrators, teachers, and communities who support and sustain music education through a period of intense change and are committed to music education so that all children can explore and express themselves through music.”
By earning the title of a Best Communities for Music Education district year after year, Midway has consistently demonstrated the value of its music programs. From elementary music classes to award-winning middle and high school choirs, bands, and orchestras, Midway remains committed to providing high-quality music education opportunities to students district-wide, ensuring they have access to exceptional music programs throughout their educational journey.
