Midway High School Announces Class of 2025 Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Midway ISD proudly announces the top academic honors for the Class of 2025. Esther Kim has been named Valedictorian, and Avery Boekweg has been named Salutatorian of Midway High School.

Esther Kim: Valedictorian

Esther Ha-eun Kim, daughter of Seung Kim and Young Lee of Waco, is the 2025 Valedictorian of Midway High School. A Presidential Scholars Program candidate and recipient of the Congressional Award Bronze Certificate, National Merit Commended Scholar, National Spanish Exam Silver Medalist, and two time TMEA All-State Orchestra Member. Esther has earned a perfect ACT score and multiple AP honors. She leads as NHS President and Student Council Senior Class President, while also serving as Concertmaster for the Waco Symphony Youth Orchestra. She is also an active member of The Lord's Church of Waco. Esther will attend Princeton University to major in Chemical and Biological Engineering.

Avery Boekweg: Salutatorian

Avery Taylor Boekweg, daughter of Candice and Ezra Boekweg of McGregor, is the 2025 Salutatorian of Midway High School. She is an AP Scholar with Distinction, a 2025 Hewitt Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Recipient, and a National Spanish Exam Silver medalist, and also serves as Vice President in both Student Council and National Honor Society. Avery’s commitment extends to community service with Mission Waco and the Spirit of Midway volunteer program. She will attend the University of Texas at Austin to study biology.
