The Midway ISD Board of Trustees during its regular April board meeting approved the hiring of new principals for both Midway Middle School and River Valley Middle School, along with new district administration.

Kayla Brown has been named the new principal of Midway Middle School, and Dr. Heather Metzgar will serve as the new principal of River Valley Middle School. Both bring deep experience and student-focused leadership to their new roles.

Current Midway Middle School principal Jay Fischer has accepted the position of District Truancy Administrator, a role that will allow him to train campus and district leaders, support student success, and address school attendance/ transfer compliance across all campuses.
Brown currently serves as Associate Principal at Midway High School and has been with Midway ISD in a variety of roles, including mathematics teacher, instructional coach, and administrator at Horizons. With a strong background in instructional leadership, scheduling, and school operations, Brown is known for her ability to build relationships and drive academic excellence.

Dr. Metzgar returns to Midway ISD after several years in Marble Falls ISD, where she most recently served as Executive Director of Secondary Education. She previously served Midway as an assistant principal and CTE coordinator and brings a wealth of experience in curriculum leadership, team development, and campus improvement.
