Midway Middle School transformed into a hub of literary excitement Tuesday as hundreds of families gathered for the highly anticipated "Midway Reads" event. The two-hour celebration of literacy and learning, held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., showcased the district's commitment to fostering a love of reading within the community.

Midway ISD Superintendent Dr. Chris Allen, a special guest reader for the evening, joined local authors in engaging with students and families through interactive reading sessions. The event featured a range of activities, including family literacy workshops and innovative makerspace stations that encouraged hands-on learning and creativity.
"We're thrilled with the tremendous turnout and engagement from our Midway families," said Midway Middle School Librarian Jeni Smith. "Seeing families enjoying activities together and connecting over books is exactly what we hoped to achieve with this event."

The evening's success was enhanced by the presence of local food vendors and The Lego Brick Truck, adding an element of fun and community fellowship to the educational atmosphere. Families also had the opportunity to take home free books and educational resources, ensuring the impact of Midway Reads extends well beyond the event itself.
“The event's success highlights Midway ISD's dedication to going above and beyond for students and families," said Midway ISD Director of Professional Learning Sarah Collins. “The planning and organization that went into this event resulted in an evening that not only celebrated literacy but also strengthened the bonds within the Midway community.”
