Midway Senior Earns Top Honor as Youth Citizen of the Year

Midway High School senior Shiroz Kazani is being honored as the Youth Citizen of the Year by the Rotary Club of Waco for embodying their motto “Service Above Self.” Twenty-two students from area high schools were nominated for the award, and Shiroz earned the top honor along with a $4,000 scholarship.

Shiroz was a standout among the other applicants due to her leadership skills and community involvement. In addition to being a founding member of the MHS Diversity Council, she also volunteers her time as an active coordinator of fundraisers for multiple medical charities.

After graduation, Shiroz plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin to study nursing.
