Earlier this month, three Midway High School students competed in the Texas FFA Tractor Technician championship, advancing to the finals and finishing in fourth place out of hundreds of teams who initially began competing this year.

Congratulations to Delaney Moszkowicz, Hali Hardesty and Caleb Montgomery! They are one of only 36 teams from across Texas to advance to the state tractor tech competition and one of only 10 teams to make it to the finals. In addition to their fourth-place finish, they also won several thousand dollars in tools and prizes for themselves and their school.

The two-day competition begins with students answering both a 100-question test on general mechanical knowledge and a 100-question components test on the first day. The ten teams who score the highest on the preliminary tests advance to the state final, which takes place on the second day.

In the final round of the competition, each team works as a group to diagnose and repair five deliberately placed electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues in a tractor and safely drive the repaired tractor around a course within the 25-minute time limit. Final standings are based on the cumulative test and tractor repair scores.

Advancing to the state level in any competition is an incredible honor, and these three students not only competed in the state competition but earned a place among the top four teams in Texas.. We are very proud of all their hard work!
