In 2008, John Cornish, Ahmad Dixon, Matt Davis, and Jonathon Howard—coached by Kenneth Wiethorn—won the gold medal in the mile relay at the 4A State Track Meet in Austin.

They outperformed competitors, including Dallas Lancaster, Denton Guyer, and Fort Worth Eastern Hills, crossing the finish line with a time of 3:16.57.

In addition, the team also set a school record in the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:28.92.
