Recruitment and Retention at Midway

While staff vacancies are proving more challenging to fill, Midway ISD's commitment to recruiting and retaining highly qualified staff remains strong. Administration has worked this spring and summer to fill open positions for the 2023-2024 school year. More than 135 new teachers attended New Panther Orientation to prepare for the coming year and all staff returned on Aug. 7 to participate in professional learning and planning in preparation for welcoming students on Aug. 15.

During the August school board meeting, Midway ISD Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Dr. Ashley Canuteson gave a personnel update and presented approaches the district has taken to hire staff that best support student learning either directly in the classroom or through other student-facing positions.
