For the ninth straight year, Midway ISD has been awarded the highest possible rating of “Superior Achievement” under the Texas Education Agency’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST).
This accolade, based on data from the 2023 fiscal year, highlights Midway ISD’s exceptional financial management and accountability practices.
“Our district’s ability to consistently earn this high rating is a testament to our leadership, finance team, and staff's diligent efforts to ensure that we manage resources wisely while focusing on the success of our students,” Midway ISD Superintendent Dr. Chris Allen said. “We take great pride in knowing that we are not only meeting the state’s high standards but also maintaining the trust of our community.”
The FIRST rating system measures the quality of a district's financial health across 20 indicators, including budgetary practices, administrative cost ratios, and the efficient use of taxpayer funds.
The FIRST was created to promote high standards in financial management among school districts and to ensure accountability in fiscal operations. Midway ISD's consistent success with the highest rating reflects its dedication to transparency, strategic financial planning, and responsible use of taxpayer funds. This achievement is a testament to the district's ongoing efforts to maintain trust and efficiently manage resources for the benefit of its students and community.
